Philosophy: Ordo Fidelis is a guild founded on the principle that World of Warcraft is the most fun when you can play with people and friends who respect, aid, advise and learn from one another.
Please keep language in Guild, Party, Raid & Vent* channels clean and friendly. Don't use profanity or social slurs and avoid the discussion of inappropriate topics. Even with the profanity filter active, the use of harsh language can create an hostile environment for other members. Bear in mind that you've lost both your body language and tone of voice when communicating in WoW. Choose your words carefully, especially when covering difficult topics. *About Ventrilo Our guild uses the voice chat program called Ventrilo hosted by TypeFrag.com. Vent allows you to play the game without having to stop to type to your groupmates. Quick communication is important in endgame content and is mandatory for progression raids.
In the event that you have a conflict with another Guild member, please try to resolve it using private messages. If you would like the mediation of an officer (or other member), ask if a party can be formed to discuss the issue. Remember, true resolution of conflicts involves the active participation of both parties. Don’t ask anyone to serve as a middle man for your conflict. Talk it out in person. ![]() Feel free to ask for help and advice in the Guild channel. However, please do not nag. On the other side of the coin, even if you can't help it is often nice to make a brief statement to that fact. Please avoid asking other guild members for gold, particularly in Guild Chat. If you're short a small amount it might be okay to ask a friend in the guild for a loan, but keep in mind that everyone else has had to work for what they have and don't look for a handout. This same principle should apply to asking for gear and materials. It is okay to ask guild members to craft items for you. Guild members are usually happy to craft items for the cost of materials. Some members may choose to craft items completely free - that is up to the individual player. Please do not charge guild members for your time, but accept graciously if someone offers you a tip for your efforts. ![]() Our standard looting policy in guild runs is to greed or pass on an item that is not an upgrade for your current spec, needing items which would be an upgrade. Since items can be traded for an hour after being picked up (to other people who could have looted it) discussions about trading items which were greeded or needed by 2 people can be made privately after runs conclude (usually). If no one will actually ever equip an item and there was an enchanter present, please consider trading it over for sharding. On current endgame raids, Ordo Loot Points may be used at the discretion of the raid leader (see the Ordo Loot Points section below). Feel free to deviate from our standard looting policy provided that your new arrangement is acceptable to all in your group and that you settle it up front. Ninja looting will not be tolerated and will result in immediate removal from the run. Ninja looting will likely also result in removal from Ordo Fidelis. It is a good idea to choose one person to lead your group, especially in instances - where teamwork is particularly important. Occasionally you may have one person acting as guide, and another making the tactical decisions. In larger raids we may have separate leads for Tanks, Healers and/or DPS (usually one of these is also the raid leader but not always). These people should be good communicators with the best knowledge of the area you are in. If you are using vent it should be kept clear of chatter when a leader is speaking. If you feel that you have an idea key to the discussion, please whisper the appropriate lead to prevent confusion over vent. Your idea will be considered and potentially incorporated. Don't be offended if it isn't. We often find that the Ordo way isn't the same as any strategy found on the web and if we fail we can try other ideas in the future. Once or twice a week we will have a Progression Raid. This is an event where we are trying to defeat content which is either totally new or still troublesome for Ordo. If you are invited to join a progression raid please bring your A game, a professional attitude, a critical eye and a strong dose of humility. In order to defeat difficult content sometimes requires specific raid demographics and/or adaptations. These runs require an extraordinary willingness to accept criticism as we try to puzzle out the reason for any wipe. In no way are these criticisms meant to be personal but, rather, try to take away from them the direction for further advancement. That said, please avoid ranting or blaming (which is different from criticism in aggression) when wipes occur. We all wipe. We all cause them. Fess up if you think it was you and learn from it. If you need or want to leave a Party or Raid, please explain your situation to the raid leader and work with them to find a replacement before you leave. It is often the case that the other members have a commitment to seeing the run through and the loss of even one member can be catastrophic. Remember that how you treat others in your group can reflect on Ordo Fidelis as a whole. |
